Cold and Flu (pt 2)


so not only is it cold and flu season you have been blessed with symptoms of one or both . today we are going to share with you one way to assist to diminish the congestion with shower melts . Shower melts are little tablets ( or whatever shaped mold you used) that slowly dissolve releasing aromatic smells to ease congestion .

this is one of the tools we use to make us more comfortable during our symptoms , one way to help with congestion is aromatherapy , in my blend i use eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon, and cinnamon essential oil .

eucalyptus essential oil for loosening mucus , also helps reduce mucus . in 50 years of research it has been shown the ability to dilate the small airways of the lungs .

Peppermint essential oil for opening nasal passages and loosen mucus , it also has reputation for being an anti-inflammatory, antifungal , antimicrobial and antioxidant properties .

Lemon essential oil helps reduce inflammation , has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties

you will need the following in order to make shower melts :

mold of your choice, i use silicon molds in various shapes

spoon to stir ,I use and prefer wood one

glass bowl to mix in

1 Cup baking soda

8 drops Eucalyptus essential oil

1/2 cup epsom salt 6 drops Peppermint essential oil

2-3 teaspoon water 4 drops lemon essential oil

2 drops cinnamon essential oil

measure out baking soda and epsom salt out into a glass bowl, combine add water slowly starting with 1 1/2 teaspoon continuing adding splash of water at a time and mixing in until you have the consistency of wet sand .should be able to squeeze it and it hold its shape . Add essential oil blend stir well. Transfer to silicon mold pack VERY tightly to ensure their is no air bubbles . Allow to dry completely before removing from molds . usually 48 hours . store melts in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.

to use place one shower melt on floor of shower away from direct stream of water , inhale deeply as possible .

there you have it. not very difficult but does require advance planning .
